Apple Nature Study

There is a whole world hiding inside a single apple, and this study is an invitation to go looking for it.

Inspired by our family farm, the Apple Nature Study walks children ages 6 to 9 through ten unhurried days of discovery. They will map the anatomy of an apple and find the star tucked in its core, follow the life cycle from a sleeping seed to a heavy-laden tree, and learn how the blossom and the orchard bee work their quiet partnership. Along the way they will run a real oxidation experiment, taste-test apple varieties like a Flavor Botanist, meet the gentle John Chapman behind the Johnny Appleseed legend, paint a Cézanne-inspired still life, stamp rustic apple prints, and bake a warm bowl of cinnamon apples to celebrate.

It closes the way every good expedition should, with a copywork poem, a completion badge, a naturalist’s vow, and a “Going Deeper” section for older learners who want to keep asking questions.
